Free Agency Opens For NFL, Cardinals – AZCardinals.com

The Cardinals have yet to officially announce any free-agent additions, but on the first day of NFL free agency Wednesday there are multiple moves that are expected as the week unfolds.

The news at the top of the line will be the addition of a pair of quarterbacks, with multiple reports not only having the Cardinals bringing in Vikings veteran Sam Bradford ostensibly as the starter for 2018 but also adding Bears vet Mike Glennon – who was officially released by Chicago Wednesday – as an experienced backup.

All players who potentially could sign need to undergo a physical first, which in the case of Bradford – who has dealt with multiple knee injuries – is an important step.

The Cardinals are also reportedly going to sign veteran Bengals offensive lineman Andre Smith, who has played most of his career at tackle but has also spent time at guard. The Cards are expected to get a free-agent visit from Giants guard Justin Pugh this week as well as General Manager Steve Keim looks to reshuffle the offensive line.

The Cardinals will also be re-signing veteran linebacker Josh Bynes, who tweeted that he would be staying in Arizona for “three more years.”

There were free agents headed out the door. Wide receiver John Brown signed with the Baltimore Ravens on a one-year contract, while the Giants are expected to sign linebacker Kareem Martin.

The Cardinals also released safety Tyrann Mathieu Wednesday.
