2018 Los Angeles Rams roster bubble watch: Preseason week 1 – Turf Show Times

The Los Angeles Rams will play the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday in their preseason opener. Touted as Super Bowl contenders, the Rams have a really good roster with not many open roster spots at the top. There are a lot of interesting players that are attempting to make the Rams roster, but this week we will look into the young players on the offensive side of the ball.

QB Luis Perez

Perez arrived to the Rams as an UDFA out of Texas A&M Commerce. In his final year as a starter, his production was impressive: 5,001 passing yards and 47 passing touchdowns. Even though it was in a lower division of college football, Perez production was enough to get him into training camp.

He is currently the 4th string quarterback, so it could be tough for him to climb the depth chart. His best chance could be showing enough to make the practice squad.

RB Justin Davis

After being on the field on less than ten snaps last season, it’s tough to foresee the Rams keeping Davis on the 53-man roster after drafting RB John Kelly in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Although it was a late Day 3 pick, Kelly is thought of as a running back with potential rotational or starter potential.

Davis does have speed, but he will have to show some receiving ability and not fumble during the preseason like last year. it will be interesting to see him in week one of the preseason.

WR Mike Thomas

Thomas is entering his third season in the league. Although Thomas had some hype surrounding his play in college he hasn’t really transitioned into the pros. Last season, Thomas was stashed on the roster even after being suspended four-games for PED use.

However, this is a new year and he has a chance to stick on the roster again. By all indications he has had a good camp, but he needs to have a couple of good games to cement his roster spot.
