August 7
Practice begins at 11:00am PT
One last training camp practice for the Los Angeles Rams today, along with the Baltimore Ravens, before the two face off in the Rams’ preseason opener on Thursday.
We know how these things usually go. There’s a crescendo of intensity that culminates in some kind of fracas that ends the session. Obviously, all eyes will be on Rams CB Aqib Talib and Ravens WR Michael Crabtree, but we’ll see. There’s a legitimate angle of professionalism to Rams Head Coach Sean McVay and Ravens HC John Harbaugh that could sincerely ensure things don’t head that way for all parties involved.
Nonetheless, game action looms in just more than 49 hours…
Injuries
Nothing additional yesterday.
Physically Unable To Perform (PUP) List – Active
Did Not Report (DNR) List – Reserve
Offense
By all accounts, Goff was really workin it yesterday. With Goff possibly sitting out Thursday’s action, today would be the last chance for him to really get some fair competition in the secondary to tune up until the second preseason game next weekend.
Defense
Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips isn’t the barker that former Rams DC and now Cleveland Browns DC Gregg Williams is. Williams whips his guys into a frenzy. You get the bonus of added physicality while losing some discipline. Phillips is more muted and technical.
So I wouldn’t expect the entire defense to come out charged up the way they were three years ago against the Dallas Cowboys that ended unceremoniously (or the opposite depending on your viewpoint).
Still…we’ve got some personalities on that side. Wouldn’t surprise me a bit if the yappin turns to scrappin.
