Things are turning up today at training camp for the Los Angeles Rams. After three days in shorts and yesterday’s day off for some of the vets, they’re putting on pads today though Head Coach Sean McVay emphasized tackling is still off the cards:

[Today’s practice] will provide a good opportunity for us to get the pads on. You start to really get a feel for those guys up front fitting blocks realistically, guys feeling a real rush. I think those are the things that’ll really help us continue to evaluate our team.

We won’t tackle. It gives us the chance to thud, fit up some blocks, but for the most part we’re never really going to tackle in practice. That’s why those preseason opportunities – but just with all the things that can occur right now, we just feel like that’s what’s best. I think we’ve got a lot of guys that know how to practice pads on. Want to try to make sure we’re getting that physicality, but also limiting the risk for injury with some of things that can occur when guys are going to the ground, consistently getting rolled up on. But, we’ll ramp it up a little bit. It’s always good to – after these practices – because we monitor kind of the workload, see where these players are at, make sure that we’re putting them in a position to continue to progress as opposed to try to wear them out these first few days of camp.

The key to pay attention to is timing especially for the least experienced Rams trying to make the roster and/or practice squad. There are just six practices (four in LA, two in Baltimore) before the preseason opener against the Baltimore Ravens in 11 days.

Injuries

No change to the official list as far as I know:

Physically Unable To Perform (PUP) List – Active
Non-Football Injury (NFI) List – Active
Did Not Report (DNR) List – Reserve

Offense

Pads means line work! Time to let the big guys up front actually do their jobs. Should be interesting for guys like OL Joseph Noteboom and C Brian Allen and G Jamil Demby who get their first shot to impress when they can actually clear space.

Defense

More info from personnel to seek out. No hits allowed, but should be interesting to see who gets slotted in along the linebackers.
