LA Rams' RB Todd Gurley wins NFL's 2017 Offensive Player of the Year award – Turf Show Times

As the NFL Honors continue to slowly leak throughout the course of the evening, it’s been announced that Los Angeles Rams’ running back Todd Gurley has been named the 2017 NFL Offensive Player of the Year. He’ll join fellow Rams’ defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who’ll take home the hardware as the league’s best defensive player.

Bouncing back nicely from a forgettable 2016 campaign under now coaching free agent Jeff Fisher, Gurley finished 2017 with 1,305 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. He added in another 64 catches, good for 788 yards and six more TD’s. Despite sitting out Week 17 (simply for rest reasons), Gurley lead the league in all purpose yards (2,093) last season.

Gurley joins former running back greats Eric Dickerson (1986) and Marshall Faulk (1999, 2000, 2001) as the only other Rams to have won the OPOY award.

Gurley should be in strong consideration for the league’s MVP award this evening, as well. Stay tuned.
