From Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown to Dallas Cowboys’ Jerry Jones, and most recently Eagles’ Malcolm Jenkins and Dallas’ Dak Prescott, talk regarding the NFL’s new national anthem policy has gone back and forth ahead of the much anticipated NFL and NFLPA meeting Friday.
A few hours ago, it was reported the meeting came to an end but what came of it was very little information for everyone outside of the room. The two organizations released a joint statement that read:
A short time ago, the NFL and NFLPA concluded a constructive meeting regarding the anthem policy and the very serious social justice issues that have been the basis of some players’ protests.
We are encouraged by the discussions and plan to continue our conversations.

The statement says nothing about the reported “standstill” the NFL and NFLPA faced just a week ago in their prior meeting. As of now, the league’s policy is still temporarily frozen as preseason approaches. The first games are scheduled for Thursday, August 9, and players — including Tennessee Titans defensive end Jurrell Casey — have already stated they will continue to protest police brutality and racial inequality despite whatever punishment the league associates with it.
NFL player Jurrell Casey told CNN he plans to protest during the national anthem, despite a new NFL policy making it a finable offense.
