2018 Los Angeles Rams training camp: August 1 practice recap – Turf Show Times

The Los Angeles Rams were back into the training camp groove today after a day off yesterday.

NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo was in attendance to cover things for the national audience:

Pretty sure that not knowing “hip-hop artists” was holding other coaches back, but whatever. It’s August 1. Let’s get silly.

Injuries

The news of note today was EDGE Matt Longacre leaving early:

Offense

Nothing substantive of note, but I did think this piece at the OC Register from Rich Hammond was worth noting for parsing the options to replace RG Jamon Brown during his early season two-game suspension. It seems to perhaps boil down to third-year pro OL Austin Blythe and rookie OL Joseph Noteboom. Still, it’s worth noting now for this passage:

It doesn’t appear that the Rams are close to naming Brown’s short-term replacement. In practices that have been open to the public, Brown has continued to take all the first-team repetitions.

That Brown has been the mainstay in those reps only suggests that whomever might take a few snaps the closer we near the regular season might be assumed to be the two-game replacement.

Here’s QB Jared Goff:

And here’s WR Robert Woods and WR Cooper Kupp:

Defense

There is absolutely nothing warranting your attention more regarding the Rams defense today in camp than CB Aqib Talib’s son running sprints after Dad:

…and Special Teams!

For the second time in camp, I had to include teams in the training camp recap and today it’s for the return of K Greg Zuerlein aka Legatron aka Young GZ aka Greg the Leg aka Mr. Automatic:
