ESPN, LA Rams Join Forces to Support Wildfire Relief Efforts During 'Monday Night Football' – TheWrap

ESPN and the Los Angeles Rams are set to honor firefighters and help support the Southern California wildfire relief efforts during the “Monday Night Football” matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Last week, the Rams announced that first responders and those affected by the community’s recent tragedies will receive complimentary tickets for the game that is now set to be played at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Firefighters and other emergency services will be honored during the pre-kick events and the halftime show.

The push is part of the LA Together campaign aiming to help people impacted by both the wildfires and the mass shooting on Nov. 8 in Thousand Oaks, which occurred close to where the Rams facilities are located.

With the game venue having been relocated from Mexico City to Los Angeles last minute due to poor field conditions at Estadio Azteca stadium, ESPN is also working to ensure that it reaches as large a Hispanic audience as possible.

During the “MNF” telecast, ESPN will air two NFL call-to-action messages about wildfire relief, the network says. Earlier on Monday, ESPN will air a feature on “SportsCenter,” their “Countdown” pregame show and “NFL Live” about the wildfires and the impact on sports teams and athletes in California.

Additional Hispanic outreach includes ESPN.com.mx streaming the game in Mexico, ESPN Deportes in Mexico City hosting a viewing party, and ESPN LA Deportes Radio (KWKW) mirroring ESPN LA Radio efforts by helping drive Hispanic ticket sales and wildfire relief efforts.

Upping the entertainment factor, Grammy Award winners The Chainsmokers will perform live during the “MNF Genesis Halftime Show” and will be joined by singer/songwriter Kelsea Ballerini for their hit song, “This Feeling.”

The Rams and Chiefs both head into Monday night with 9-1 records and are among the favorites to reach Super Bowl LIII.
