LA Rams to sign LB Clay Matthews – Turf Show Times

Well, the Los Angeles Rams have yet another veteran coming to LA for 2019.

After rumors circulated last week, former Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews is indeed signing with the Rams.

A six-time Pro Bowler, Matthews is at the end of his career. I’m not sure how much he has in the tank, but there are still plenty of positives to having him around both in the locker room and as a leader on the field. I’m not sure the Rams were short of the latter, but it could be a low-cost, low-risk move regardless.

If anything, it’s a move that will make USC Trojans fans happy to see one of their own join the Rams along with WR Robert Woods, CB Nickell Robey-Coleman and RB Justin Davis.

The Rams are gearing up for an interesting transition era from last year’s Super Bowl or bust effort that will see Matthews, LT Andrew Whitworth, S Eric Weddle and potentially CB Aqib Talib playing out their final days in LA.

It’s not hard to see why the Rams would be such an attractive place for talented vets like this group.

We’ll just have to see if Matthews has enough juice to squeeze for one more year.

Well, we’ve got reported terms now. Two years, max of $16.75m. I’m not sure where the money is coming from, but a lot of this has to be loaded into 2020.
