Entering his second year with the New York Giants, Nate Solder spent most of the offseason sidelined by an ankle injury that required arthroscopic surgery.
The well-compensated left tackle doesn’t expect to stay on the sidelines come August.
Solder told The Athletic’s Dan Duggan that his ankle is “progressing really nicely” and he expects to be full-go for New York when training camp kicks off on July 26.
“There’s no reason to think that I won’t be there for training camp,” Solder said Saturday.
The left tackle added that he has moved on to doing less rehab and more football training.
Solder’s recovery should be welcome news for Big Blue, who was also without likely starting right tackle Mike Remmers (back) during offseason workouts.
New York needs a more consistent campaign from Solder in his second go-around with the club. After inking a four-year, $62 million deal with the Giants in 2018, Solder was a merely middle-of-the-road blindside blocker for New York, though he improved as the year went on.
The sooner Solder gets back on the field to work alongside Will Hernandez and company on the offensive line, the better for Big Blue.
