Cowboys' Gregory will file for reinstatement – NFL.com

Embattled Dallas Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory is currently on an indefinite suspension by the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, but he will file for reinstatement within the next 10 days, NFL Network’s Jane Slater reported on Friday.

Dallas Morning News’ David Moore first reported the news.

Slater added that as part of the proposal, Gregory will display a strengthened support system which will help him better manage “expectations of the program.”

Gregory was suspended on Feb. 26. It was the fourth suspension for the 26-year-old Gregory since his 2015 NFL Draft selection by Dallas.

In the aftermath of his latest suspension, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett went on record with his full support. Taking it a step further, Dallas extended Gregory’s contract through 2020.

Since being drafted in 2015, Gregory has played in 28 games with just one start and missed all of the 2017 season due to his third suspension. Last season was far and away his most productive as he played in 14 games with the aforementioned one start and accumulated six sacks, 25 tackles and two forced fumbles. For his career, he has 45 tackles, seven sacks and those two forced fumbles.
