Bengals request interview with Rams' Shane Waldron for head coaching vacancy – Rams Wire

The Cincinnati Bengals are eyeing the Los Angeles Rams’ coaching staff as they look for Marvin Lewis’ replacement. In addition to requesting an interview with quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor, the Bengals also asked to meet with pass-game coordinator Shane Waldron.

Sean McVay confirmed the news on a conference call Monday.

McVay seems open to letting his assistants explore opportunities, just as he was with Matt LaFleur and Greg Olson last year.

Waldron served as the Rams’ tight ends coach when he was hired last year before being promoted to co-offensive coordinator this offseason. He helped replace LaFleur, who left for the Titans’ coordinator opening. Waldron and Aaron Kromer serve as McVay’s offensive coordinators.

Waldron, 39, worked under Bill Belichick with the Patriots, as well, serving as a football operations assistant. Like Taylor, he’s expected to be a hot coaching candidate in the coming months.
