Here are the most significant NFL injuries in Week 9:
Eddie Lacy, RB, Seattle Seahawks: The “use Eddie Lacy as the lead back” plan appears to have hit a snag. After sustaining a groin injury during the first half against the Redskins, Lacy was declared doubtful to return.
Reuben Foster, LB, San Francisco 49ers: Appearing in his third game this season, Foster appeared to suffer a leg injury defending a run by Cardinals running back Adrian Peterson. After being examined on the field, Foster walked off under his own power.
Jaquiski Tartt, S, San Francisco 49ers: After appearing to hurt his arm during a second quarter tackle, Tartt exited the game and later went with 49ers medical staff for further tests in the locker room. He was subsequently declared questionable to return because of a wrist injury.
George Kittle, TE, San Francisco 49ers: A leg injury sidelined the Iowa product early on in the first quarter, and the 49ers declared him questionable to return. He made his return shortly thereafter, as fellow 49ers TE Cole Hikutini was declared out because of a knee injury.
Jameis Winston, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: After playing through a shoulder injury originally sustained back in Week 6, Winston appeared to aggravate his shoulder on a hit from Saints DE Alex Okafor in the first half. After consultations with the Bucs’ medical staff, it was determined that Winston would be pulled from the game and replaced by Ryan Fitzpatrick; however, he was officially declared questionable to return.
William Gholston, DE, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Gholston remained down on the field after sustaining an injury during the third quarter and was eventually strapped onto a stretcher and carted off. It was not immediately clear what caused the injury, but Gholston’s face mask was removed from his helmet as he was taken off the field. The Bucs subsequently announced that Gholston was designated as out for the remainder of the game because of a neck injury, and he was brought to a local hospital.
Shawn Williams, S, Cincinnati Bengals: Williams left the game in the third quarter and was declared doubtful to return because of a hamstring injury.
C.J. Anderson, RB, Denver Broncos: Anderson appeared to have his leg bent backwards at an awkward angle as he was tackled by Vinny Curry on a play in the first quarter. Anderson was able to walk off under his own power but was replaced in the lineup by Jamaal Charles. Anderson was declared probable to return with an ankle injury, and returned to action later in the first half.
Ryan Griffin, TE, Houston Texans: Griffin was removed from the game in the third quarter, and was evaluated for a potential concussion; thereafter, he was declared out.
Dante Fowler Jr., DE, Jacksonville Jaguars: After sustaining an elbow injury during the second quarter against the Bengals, Fowler was declared questionable to return.
Jake Fisher, OT, Cincinnati Bengals: Fisher was reported to have an illness in the second quarter of the game against the Jaguars and was declared questionable to return. He was later downgraded to out and transported to a local hospital for further testing.
Pat Sims, DT, Cincinnati Bengals: Sims exited the game against the Jaguars during the first quarter, and the Bengals announced that he was questionable to return because of a right calf injury.
Derrick Morgan, LB, Tennessee Titans: Morgan was shaken up during the team’s first defensive series of the game and walked off the field slowly under his own power. He returned to the game later in the same series.
Thursday
Zay Jones, WR, Buffalo Bills: After an encouraging first half where he managed four catches for 40 yards and a touchdown, Jones injured his leg after being tripped by cornerback Buster Skrine. Jones returned later in the game but appeared to aggravate his leg again.
Jeremy Kerley, WR, New York Jets: Kerley was knocked out of the game against the Bills in the first quarter with an ankle injury and did not return. He will require additional tests to determine the course of action.
