Westgate SuperBook — Updated Outlook for 2018

The Rams have come a long way from the start of last season. After going 4-12 to close out 2016, Los Angeles brought in first-year head coach Sean McVay, who led the franchise to its first playoff appearance in over a decade — with an 11-5 finish.

The Westgate SuperBook is one of many sports books in Vegas to take notice of the change.

For example, L.A. and its NFC West rival in San Francisco, saw the biggest year-over-year jumps in projected win totals. The Rams opened at 9.5 for the 2018 season, after being projected to win just six games last year.

There has also been a huge increase in support for both teams from the betting public over the last couple of months. According to ESPN.com, “more bets have been placed and more money has been wagered on the Rams to win the Super Bowl than any other team.”

And while the Patriots remain the favorites to take home another Championship in 2018 at 6-1, the Rams have the third-best odds of any team in the league, at 10-1. The club is also the overall favorite for its division in the NFC.

Best Draft Picks for all 32 Teams

Two hundred and fifty-six of college football’s top prospects were drafted this weekend as part of the 2018 NFL Draft.

And though we won’t know just how good each of these players will be for another two to three seasons, CBS Sports’ Ryan Wilson is taking the time to speculate as to which prospect from every team will be of the most value.

With that in mind, take a look at who Wilson believes was the Rams top pick of this year’s draft:

Los Angeles Rams

“Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, DE, Oklahoma (160th pick): The Rams were busiest this offseason during free agency but they made the most of their draft picks too. Their first pick wasn’t until the third round and it wasn’t until two rounds after that they grabbed Okoronkwo, an edge rusher who a lot of people thought could be a Day 1 selection.”

Special Teams Unit Takes in First-Ever LAFC Home Game

Sunday night was a special one for the sports industry here in Los Angeles.

It was opening night for the LAFC — the newest professional sports club the in the city — who welcomed the Seattle Sounders for its inaugural game at the Banc of California Stadium.

While the contest was entertaining in its own right, it was the sold-out crowd of 22,000 soccer fans that swarmed through the gates of the brand new $350 million stadium, that captured everyone’s attention.

And among the thousands of fans were a few of the Rams special-teamers, including punter Johnny Hekker, kickers Greg Zuerlein and Sam Ficken, as well as long snapper Jake McQuaide, who all came out to show their support.
