Former Memphis running back Darrell Henderson is now officially a member of the Los Angeles Rams after the team announced he signed his rookie contract on Friday.
Henderson, who was drafted in the third round with the 70th overall pick, signed a four-year deal. Terms were not disclosed but according to Spotrac, Henderson’s contract is expected to be worth over $4 million.
That estimate is based on Los Angeles Chargers rookie tight end Josh Oliver, who was selected one pick before Henderson, signing a four-year deal worth $4.25 million.
“It’s an amazing feeling. It’s a dream come true and I give all thanks to God,” Henderson said on the Rams’ team website. “I think every kid growing up has this dream. And for me to make this dream come true, it’s a special moment.”
Henderson left Memphis after his junior season, becoming a consensus All-American after leading the nation in all-purpose yards and total touchdowns. He was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award as the nation’s top running back and helped the Tigers win their second consecutive AAC West division championship.
Henderson’s Memphis teammate Tony Pollard, who was drafted in the fourth round, signed a four-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys on May 10.
