Ten weeks ago, Rob Gronkowski called it a career and retired.

Ten weeks later, Gronk is still retired and that’s not changing.

“Whatever I say it doesn’t matter. It’ll always be crazy out there. You can put ’em to rest,” said Gronkowski in regards to scuttlebutt regarding him returning to the playing field. “I’m feeling good, [I’m in] a good place.”


The future Hall of Famer’s comments came Sunday when he addressed a scrum of reporters at the One Mission Buzz off Kids at Gillette Stadium.

Gronkowski, who won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots over his nine-year career, delivered the comments while sporting a freshly bald dome after shaving his head for a ninth-straight year in support of the cause, which aids youngsters battling cancer.

Upon the tight end’s retirement, which he announced on Instagram on March 24, there was an almost instant belief among some that he would come back. It was a theory fueled at least in part by his agent Drew Rosenhaus.

But on this Sunday, Gronkowski did his best to quell any rumors, though as he said, it likely doesn’t matter.

The 30-year-old is likely to have a comeback story ready and waiting to be written until at least an autumn or two has passed without him playing for the Patriots.
