LA Rams LT Andrew Whitworth to return in 2019 – Turf Show Times

Well, it’s coming directly from the horses mouth so it has to be accurate, correct? Los Angeles Rams LT Andrew Whitworth is hinting at a return to the field in 2019 after speculation arose that he could retire this offseason:

Obviously, it cannot be understated just how important this news is for the Rams. Not only is Whitworth still arguably the best left tackle in football, but the uncertainty surrounding fellow offensive lineman LG Rodger Saffold and C John Sullivan ensures at least some continuity along the front-five for the Rams. Saffold is slated to hit free agency unless the Rams and Saffold’s camp can work out an extension, and Sully is nearing the end of his career and contemplating retirement just as Whitworth was.

Third-round rookie LT Joseph Noteboom has the opportunity to remain on the bench (given the status of Saffold) and continue to learn behind one of the most consistent and valuable players in the league in Whitworth.

Whitworth will be on the hook for $16.7m this season, and enters the last year of his contract (which may also be the last year of his career).
