LA Rams to not sign OLB Junior Galette – Turf Show Times – Turf Show Times

The Los Angeles Rams have passed on signing a familiar face in former Washington and New Orleans Saints OLB Junior Galette.

This, according to Rich Hammond:

Galette visited the Rams on Monday. Although the physical seemed to have went well, the Rams didn’t even grant Galette a workout for reasons unknown.

Galette spent the last three seasons in Washington (two of which were lost to torn Achilles tendons) with Head Coach Sean McVay, Assistant Head Coach/Linebackers Coach Joe Barry and multiple other coaches.

Galette is a 30-year old seven-year NFL veteran. He’s amassed 34.5 career sacks, six pass deflections, and six forced fumbles.

The Rams passing on Galette is interesting because he would have added to a group that is largely moved by a youth movement. Current “starter” EDGE Matt Longacre is rehabbing from a biceps injury that has kept him in and out of training camp. Rookie EDGE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo is rehabbing a broken foot that has kept him out since organized team activities. Missing those two allows for only EDGE Samson Ebukam, OLB Trevon Young, OLB Ejuan Price, EDGE Justin Lawler, EDGE Ryan Davis, and EDGe Brian Womac to be available.

Well. And someone else.

Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips revealed today they have DT Dominique Easley taking snaps at OLB after having taking him off of the physically unable to perform list on Monday.

If the Rams plan on re-visiting the potential to add Galette (which doesn’t sound promising at all), here’s some of his ability:

Upwards and onwards.
