Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network has two interesting pieces of information pertaining to the Los Angeles Rams, one which is relevant today and one relevant moving forward.
First, the Rams have concluded that RB Todd Gurley won’t be a workhorse today, meaning he and RB C.J. Anderson are expected to share time/carries/touches again. Now, that’s not exactly surprising. The one-two punch has performed fantastically together (and apart), so why not keep both guys fresh and allow them to play where they both excel?
The second piece of information is that the Rams want Anderson to return next year, which makes perfect sense. Gurley had a monstrous workload for majority of the season with his knee flaring up at some point in the season and sapping his effectiveness at times. Anderson is a veteran who fits perfectly in the zone running system the Rams deploy, and Anderson has had plenty of success in his short time in Los Angeles.
