There have been moments over the past few weeks where it appeared Los Angeles Rams’ cornerback Trumaine Johnson had a chance – albeit small – of being re-signed by the team. And then they traded for Marcus Peters. And then forAqib Talib. And finally, they signed former Packers’ CB Sam Shields.
It was at that point that any notion of a return to LA could be laid to rest. And Johnson confirmed it in an Instagram post on Sunday night — thanking his fans from St. Louis and Los Angeles for their support over the years.
Free agency doesn’t officially begin until 4pm on Wednesday, but Monday marks the beginning of the “legal tampering period” where deals can be made (though not finalized).
Johnson will be one of the most coveted defensive backs in the free agency pool, and has been linked to the Raiders, 49ers, Jets, and Browns.
In all likelihood, it won’t take long for Tru to find a new home. Here’s to wishing him the best of luck wherever he lands.
