If you thought the Los Angeles Rams’ offensive lineman performed well last night, you’re partially right.
What do I mean by that?
Well, they didn’t just perform well. They absolutely dominated.
The Pro Football Focus team of the week features FOUR offensive lineman from the Rams. Yup, four.
Here’s what they said about their performances:
Andrew Whitworth, LT, Los Angeles Rams – 84.5 grade
The Rams offensive line as a unit was fantastic, and that starts with Whitworth. He allowed just one hurry, and no hits or sacks, for 36 pass-blocking snaps in the win over the Raiders.
Rodger Saffold, LG, Los Angeles Rams – 86.4 grade
Saffold produced a perfect 100.0 pass-blocking efficiency, with no pressures allowed all game. He also impressed as a run-blocker, producing the highest run-blocking grade among offensive guards this week.
Austin Blythe, RG, Los Angeles Rams – 87.0 grade
Saffold’s teammate was our second-highest graded run-blocking guard this week, trailing only his teammate. Similarly, he too produced a perfect 100.0 pass-blocking efficiency rating, with no pressures allowed all game.
Rob Havenstein, RT, Los Angeles Rams – 83.5 grade
Like Whitworth, Havenstein didn’t allow any sacks or hits, and just one hurry, from 36 pass-blocking snaps. That’s an impressive duo, with quarterback Jared Goff having to deal with just two pressures against his tackles over the course of the game.
Maybe the most interesting part of all of this is that RG Austin Blythe is only starting because Jamon Brown is suspended for the first two weeks. His performance was strong enough to consider whether he should continue starting the rest of the year, especially if he can string together another good game vs the Arizona Cardinals in week two.
That’s impressive anyway you slice it. Let’s hope this offensive line can continue staying healthy and excelling.
