Peter Schrager still believes Rams' WR trio can be historically great – Rams Wire

The Los Angeles Rams and their fans got a look at the potential of Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks in the same offense. Unfortunately, it was a brief glimpse at the future – a tease, really.

Kupp injured his knee in Week 6 and was forced to miss two games. He returned in Week 9 and caught five passes for 89 yards and a touchdown, but disaster struck one week later. He tore his ACL in Week 10 and missed the rest of the season, limiting him to only eight games in 2018.

Still, he had 40 catches for 566 yards and six touchdowns, looking even better than he did as a standout rookie the year before. Prior to Kupp’s injury, Peter Schrager of NFL Network said the Rams’ trio of receivers could go down as one of the best ever.

Tuesday, he stood by his prediction without wavering a bit.

“I said on this show after the Thursday night game where the Rams beat the Vikings in that crazy shoot in the L.A. Coliseum that I thought Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Brandin Cooks could go on to be the greatest trio of wide receivers ever in NFL history and I got roasted for it,” Schrager said. “I’m going to stand behind it. I still think Cooks, Woods and Kupp – because of their ages and because of their early productions in their career – could put up historic numbers if they stay together as a trio. They’re all under the age of 25, they’re all awesome and they’re all interchangeable.”

His doubling-down was sparked by the debate of who the hosts are most excited to see return from injury. Kupp is a great pick, considering how well he played before getting hurt last season. The sky is the limit for the Rams offense with everyone healthy.
