Malcolm Brown — who signed an offer sheet with the Detroit Lions after taking a free agent visit there as a restricted free agent — will be returning to Los Angeles as they decided to match his contract sheet, per Ian Rapoport:
Source: The #Rams are matching the two-year, $3.25M offer sheet for RFA RB Malcolm Brown, source said. They keep him, the #Lions will keep searching. He gets a $100K signing bonus and $1 million guaranteed.

Brown has been a quality player for the Rams, though his 2018 season (which was his most productive yet) was cut short due to a shoulder injury which forced him onto injured reserve.
The Rams seem content with letting fellow RB C.J. Anderson walk, so the return of Brown is relatively crucial when coupled with the uncertainty surrounding RB Todd Gurley’s knee. Typically, the backup running back spot hasn’t received a ton of work in L.A., though it seems things are going to change in 2019 as the Rams want to extend the shelf-life on Gurley, having him remain fresh for the late part of the season, as well as the late part of his contract extension.
Brown returns to the Rams on a two-year $3.25m deal. It was a near certainty the Rams were going to match after they originally handed him an original-round tender which would have cost the Rams nearly $3.1m for 2019 alone.
Welcome back, Malc!
