Report: LA Rams to hire Eric Henderson to be new defensive line coach – Turf Show Times

A bit of a stunner tonight from the news wire.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport is reporting the Los Angeles Rams will hire Eric Henderson, most recently the assistant defensive line coach with the Los Angeles Chargers, to become our next defensive line coach.

The promotion comes as a surprise as Rams Defensive Line Coach Bill Johnson has done a fine job the last two years to the point of praise across the league. Perhaps he’s in for a promotion elsewhere that’s yet to be reported or something from his personal life, because this one’s a bit of a surprise otherwise.

Henderson was a defensive end who played for Georgia Tech before a brief career with the Cincinnati Bengals. He spent three years with the Oklahoma State Cowboys’ defensive staff before spending a year with UTSA and then making the jump to the NFL last year as the Chargers’ assistant DL coach.

We’ll have to see if this is the final shuffling of the coaching staff now that the head coach and offensive & defensive coach positions have been filled across the league or if Rams Head Coach Sean McVay has more tinkering to do.

Let’s block ads! (Why?)
