Report: Los Angeles Rams inquired about DE Khalil Mack – Turf Show Times


If the Los Angeles Rams’ offseason wasn’t crazy enough, here’s some extra news that could spice things up: the Rams seriously contacted the Oakland Raiders and inquired about a trade for disgruntled star DE Khalil Mack:

No, this is not a prank or a joke. Apparently it seriously happened.

Where do I even begin?

What would the Rams have been able to offer? They lack a second-round pick in the 2019 draft, though they expect to receive potentially two third-round compensatory picks for the losses of WR Sammy Watkins and CB Trumaine Johnson.

Not just that, but where would they find the money? Even with the restructures to WR Robert Woods and LT Andrew Whitworth (as well as contract extension for DT Aaron Donald), the Rams only have $6.5m in cap space, and Mack’s contract calls for nearly a $14m cap hit this year.

And still, not only is the current cap space a major hurdle, but do the Rams really have enough cap space down the line that it was a reality?

Who knows.

Luckily, the Rams don’t have to worry about these issues now as the Chicago Bears made a blockbuster move for the star DE.
