With the uncertainty at the cornerback position for the Los Angeles Rams post-2019, it’d make sense to look towards the future when it comes to potential starters at the position. That’s why it’s great news that Michigan Wolverines CB David Long had a pre-draft visit with the Rams already:
Note: This is an unreliable source, so please take it with a grain of salt
Long is a freak athlete at the corner position who stands 5’11” and 196 lbs. His size (not so much) and “grabiness” are generally my only drawbacks when it comes to his tape, because Long is a fantastic cover corner otherwise. He excels as a man-to-man coverage option who has lateral quickness, sticky coverage, and unmatched agility. Long would be a logical replacement for a guy like CB Aqib Talib after 2019 as his contract ends after the season. Long lined up in press-man coverage on nearly every snap, so what Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips will expect from him wont be a massive transition.
