REPORT: Minnesota Vikings sign former LA Rams QB Sean Mannion – Turf Show Times

In what was a foregone conclusion after the signing of QB Blake Bortles, former Los Angeles Rams QB Sean Mannion has officially signed a deal with the Minnesota Vikings, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network:

Mannion never developed under the Rams after being drafted as a third-round pick back in 2015. Mannion only started one game in his career which was a week 17 bout in 2017 where the Rams decided to bench their starters with a sure-fire playoff spot locked in.

The details of the deal are currently not known, though if the price is high enough, the Rams could net a compensatory pick moving forward. A comp pick would be a big get because the Rams lost a projected fourth-rounder due to the signing of OLB Clay Matthews, per Over The Cap.

The Rams will move forward with veteran QB Blake Bortles as the backup to Jared Goff. Bortles has a much more accomplished career and is severely more talented than Mannion, making this split the best decision for both sides.
