Report: Rams DE Ethan Westbrooks signs contract extension, takes pay cut in 2017 – Rams Wire

One day after the Los Angeles Rams blew out the Indianapolis Colts 46-9, the team reportedly signed a key defender to a contract extension. According to NFL Network, Ethan Westbrooks agreed to a one-year extension, which actually includes a pay cut in 2017.

Westbrooks played well against the Colts, recording three tackles and a sack. He got the start next to Michael Brockers and Tyrunn Walker, and proved he should remain in that spot going forward.

He signed a restricted tender back in April, which was paying him $1.797 million in 2017. He would have become a free agent next offseason if not for the extension, so it likely keeps him in L.A. for one more year.

In his career, Westbrooks has played in 36 games, has five sacks and four forced fumbles.
