Report: Rams to hold joint practices with Raiders and Chargers – Rams Wire

The Los Angeles Rams played it extremely cautious in the preseason last year, resting just about every one of their starters for all four games. There’s a chance they’ll take the same approach in 2019, especially with the opportunity to hold joint practices with other teams.

According to Vincent Bonsignore of The Athletic, the Rams are expected to practice with the Raiders and Chargers during training camp. The Rams play the Raiders in Week 1 of the preseason, so it would make sense for those practices to take place in the first week of August.

The two L.A. teams don’t square off in the preseason, but they’ll have their battles on the practice field in camp.

When the Rams and Chargers held joint practices two years ago, a massive brawl broke out between the two sides. It was a literal representation of the “Fight for L.A.,” which the Rams have undoubtedly been winning after reaching the Super Bowl last season.

Sean McVay seems to prioritize controlled practice situations against other teams over playing starters in the preseason, limiting the risk of injury for key players. That’ll likely be the case again this year with the Rams holding joint practices against not one, but two teams.
