KANSAS CITY, Mo. The future for Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill could come more into focus this week when he’s expected to meet with the NFL.
Kansas City Sports radio station 810 WHB reports from two sources close to the situation that investigators from the National Football League will conduct “multiple interviews” with Hill.
“The interviews indicate the NFL is ready to move forward and make a decision on Hill’s future in football,” WHB says.
Last month, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodall said the NFL wouldn’t interfere with the State of Kansas’ case regarding possible child abuse at Hill’s home, but was “prepared to go ahead and have an interview whenever (it) had permission to do so.”
WHB says Hill is expected to have legal representation at every meeting with league officials this week.
Since late April, Hill has been suspended from all team activities after an audio recording surfaced of Hill and his fiance discussing the police investigation at Hill’s home concerning injuries to their 3-year-old son.
Early this month, Eyewitness News learned Hill will not face criminal charges in the child abuse case, but the Kansas Department for Children and Families case is ongoing. At this time, it’s unknown if Hill will regain custody of his son, or what, if any suspension he could face from the NFL and/or Chiefs organization if he’s cleared to play for the team this season.
In the meantime, the Chiefs are looking ahead to July 23 when the team reports to training camp in St. Joseph, Mo.
