Per a league source, chatter is increasing regarding the possibility of the Rams and Donald getting a deal done soon. If it happens, it will mean that the two sides found a way to bridge the gap between how the Rams value Donald, and how Donald values Donald.
That’s Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio today on the Los Angeles Rams nearing a contract extension with DL Aaron Donald.
There’s also this from CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora:
As reported last week would expect the Rams and Aaron Donald to agree to a new contract prior to their next preseason game. Big press conference back in LA. Continues to trend in that direction

As always with JFC, there needs to be some skepticism. He also had this a month ago:
Aaron Donald has told some close to him that he anticipates a new deal being done before camp opens. Would behoove the Rams to do as much and that is certainly their hope

Obviously, that didn’t come to pass, so push all your chips in.
And for those of you who value updates on contractual negotiations from Head Coach Sean McVay who has nothing to do with contractual negotiations, he had this to say on Saturday:
Same ball park, zip code – that’s good. We talked about that. There’s been – let’s put it this way, there’s increased dialogue. There’s more – we feel positive about the direction that these things are going. I think there’s a level of urgency that’s being displayed from us. I know that they know how much we value him and appreciate (DT) Aaron (Donald). Hopefully, we’ll see some things change on that front sooner than later, but it’s still kind of in the same boat. But, I know there’s a huge level of urgency from our side in terms of how important he is, wanting to be proactive about trying to find a solution, get this thing done. We’ll see if we can get that situation handled.
I wouldn’t assume anything at this point., but the reporting at least seems to be increasing.
Stay tuned?
